It’s been said that it’s not very easy to sell your home in autumn, no matter what kind of market it may be. That simply isn’t true. In fact, all those naysayers who prefer spring to sell means there are fewer homes for sale. Fall can actually be a great time to sell because of lower inventory increasing demand. Now that Fall is officially here, getting things going to sell soon is important. Here are some suggestions for a successful autumn sale.
Start outside. Keep the yard clear of leaves and debris that fall from trees. The great fall tree colors look great on the trees, but not on the lawn! Trim trees and bushes to keep them from blocking light getting inside. Clean out your summer gardens and plant some great fall flowers like marigolds and chrysanthemums. The rich yellows, oranges and reds will brighten up the front and back of your home. Add some pumpkins and colorful squash too! Don’t forget the backyard too. If you have a deck or seating around a firepit, add that great color and show how cozy an evening around the firepit with hot apple cider or mulled wine can be.
Keep in mind that fall can also bring rain, so finding a way to keep mud and such outside is important. Add some heavy duty, fall themed door mats at each door.
Moving onto the inside, do your usual clean and declutter, but then bring out some autumn touches. Adding comfy throw blankets here and there on furniture is a great touch. Clean windows inside and out to allow lots of light to flood into the home. Don’t forget how your home smells! Get some great autumn scented candles or diffusers. Choose scents with cloves and cinnamon, hints of pine are nice too. Set out a small vase with cinnamon sticks. Set out a bowl of different types of apples for a great color splash.
BAKE! Setting out yummy treats that scent the home with pumpkin, cinnamon, apples and such will bring great memories to buyers of their lives and make them want to make new fall memories in your home.
See how easy it can be!
